Fears of ιnjury were put to rest by Carlo Ancelotti after a Real Madrid player was taken off at halftime against Union Berlin – “It had been planned”

After beating Union Berlin 3-2 at the Olympic Stadium, Real Madrid made sure they had a clean record in the group stages of this season’s Champions League. In Berlin, Real Madrid was behind, but Joselu Mato (x2) and Dani Ceballos scored to seal the win.

In an interview with Movistar+ (via Marca) after the game, head coach Carlo Ancelotti called it “strange,” which is probably what most fans thought as well.

“That was a bit of a weird gam. We were in charge for 40 minutes, but in two ᴄʀаᴢʏ minutes, they made it hard for us. We tried to play a little better in the second half. We tried to cross the ball more because we have a great player in the air. We hadn’t scored any shots in the first half, but he scored two. When Joselu is on the field, you need to try more passes.

Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde was taken off at halftime, which made people worry that he might get hurt again. But Ancelotti calmed everyone down when he said that the change had been planned ahead of time.

“The plan was made.”

Real Madrid can now look forward to the draw for the last 16 of the Champions League. However, their next game is this weekend against Villarreal, which will take their full attention.
