Very few athletes have truly achieved greatness. Whoever makes that list, Michael Jordan‘s name is bound to be on it. Jordan has been synonymous with greatness for over three decades now. More importantly, his name is often used to refer to someone who has achieved great things.
Recently, one such compliment was paid to a young 24-year-old NFL star for his performance. This New Orleans Saints cornerback played a pivotal role in defeating the Chicago Bears. This led to his teammate honoring him by putting his name next to arguably the greatest basketball player of all time.
Michael Jordan’s aura felt in the Saints game
To be even mentioned in the same conversation as MJ is a dream for many athletes. This is not restricted to only basketball, as Jordan has transcended the sport itself. The Chicago Bulls legend has achieved incredible things in the NBA and with time, has only raised the bar higher. Even during his Presidential Medal of Freedom ceremony in 2016, President Obama said that MJ’s greatness can be measured by the fact that whenever anyone excels in their field of work, they’re called the Michael Jordan of their world. The sentiment is echoed even today as well.
Khalen Saunders, the Saints’ defensive tackle was recently asked about his thoughts on the 24-year-old Paulson Adebo. The Saints won their last game against the Bears 24-17 and Adebo was the architect of their victory. Saunders had nothing but great things to say about his teammates following their victory. He said, “Man that’s like watching Michael Jordan right there”. Moreover, Saunders said that despite being only 24 years old, Adebo had the courage and skills to shoulder his team. As per the 27-year-old, he is destined for greatness, moving forward from here.
The Saints defensive tackle said that he’d like to witness more such performances as Adebo continues to reach new heights.
Michael Jordan’s love for other sports
Initially, Jordan had no plans to pursue a career in basketball. In fact, he had his eyes set on baseball and wanted to excel at it. Although later in his career, he did take a break from the NBA to go play baseball, destiny had other things in store for him. Other than that, MJ also takes great interest in motorsports and he owns a team in NASCAR as well. For a brief period in his life, the NFL was also in plans, however, he didn’t make any serious commitment towards it.
