On Friday night, David de Gea became a free agent in the soccer world, but he is no longer single.

De Gea, 32, married Spanish singer Edurne, 37, this weekend in Menorca.

Seven months before De Gea moved to Manchester United from Atletico Madrid, the couple met for the first time in November 2010.

They welcomed a daughter into the world in 2021, and they called her Yanay.

Three wedding images by De Gea and Edurne were shared on Instagram on Saturday night, accompanied by the statement, “We couldn’t be happier!”

The “Life is beautiful” tweet was posted by De Gea as well.

Former and current soccer greats such as Sergio Aguero, Sergi Roberto, and Marcos Alonso, as well as the wife of United midfielder Casemiro, all took to social media to offer their congrats to the newlyweds.

They received a “Felicidades, David” from the official United club account, which commented on the couple’s Instagram photo.

Less than 24 hours had passed since De Gea had been officially released from United.

His most recent deal with the Devils ended on June 30 at midnight.

With a weekly salary of almost £400,000, De Gea was the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world when he signed that contract in 2019.

The Athletic reports that early this year, De Gea accepted a considerably reduced salary offer for a new contract, but the club never signed the document.

United supposedly made a second, even lower-paying offer after retracting the first.

According to reports, United has not withdrawn that amended offer, leaving the door open for De Gea to return before the 2023–24 season.
