After being fired by Nike, Mason Greenwood of Manchester United trains at Getafe in shoes that are seven years old.

After being released by Nike, Mason Greenwood has been training with his new club Getafe in seven-year-old footwear.

The attacker was spotted working with his Getafe teammates as he prepares for his La Liga debut later this month.

Greenwood’s Nike contract was cancelled last year

Despite Nike canceling his contract in 2022, he donned Nike Mercurial Superfly 4 footwear.

Greenwood was recently seen working alone with his father in a park, but this is the first time he has participated in full team training in well over a year.

Greenwood donned black Nike Phantom GX footwear during the park session in June.

He hasn’t signed a new contract with any boot manufacturer since Nike let him go.

Greenwood is unlikely to be match fit, and his gym photographs suggest that he is more interested with strength and conditioning.

Getafe also released a video of supporters chanting Greenwood’s welcome to the training field outside of Madrid.

“We love you Mason Greenwood,” it said.

The forward, 21, has been given a path back to football by the La Liga club.

“Hi Getafe fans, it’s Mason here,” he stated in a message to fans.

“I’m so happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started.”

Getafe also shared a photo of Greenwood wearing the club’s blue home jersey on Twitter.

It was captioned “Mason Greenwood ya esta aqui,” which translates as “Mason Greenwood has arrived.”

The transaction was revealed by the Spanish club only minutes before the summer transfer window closed on Friday.

United would get no loan fee and will fund the majority of his weekly salary of £75,000 in Spain.

“The move allows Greenwood to begin rebuilding his career away from Manchester United,” the club said in a statement.

“The club will continue to offer its support to Mason and his family during this period of transition.”

United had already stated that Greenwood and the club had “mutually agreed” to part ways following an internal probe into his incarceration.

He was arrested in October of last year, but the Crown Prosecution Service dropped all allegations against him in February.

Greenwood has two years left, and the club can extend it by another year if they so desire.

The club would have been liable for more than £8 million if he had not been sold.

It comes after the release of new details on Greenwood’s move to Getafe, including the striker’s uniform number and weekly wage of £75,000.
