After a long delay due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the fantasy series’ eight-episode sophomore season will premiere on December 17.

The synopsis for The Witcher season two reads: ‘Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen.

‘While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.’

As the trailer opens, Nivellen (Kristofer Hivju) says in a voiceover, ‘Something has changed, Geralt.’

Geralt is shown wading through a pond as a winged monster flies ominously overhead. The scene cuts to images of a burned countryside.
