Kylian Mbappe scores, Real Madrid wins European Super Cup for the 6th time

This year’s European Super Cup match took place at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland (with a capacity of 58,580 spectators) between the reigning Champions League champions – Real Madrid and the reigning Europa League champions – Atalanta.

With a stronger squad, especially with the presence of rookie Kylian Mbappe, Los Blancos still faced many difficulties against the disciplined play of the Italian representative. The White Vultures’ net could have even shaken in the first half if it weren’t for the excellent reflexes of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

However, Real Madrid showed the mettle of the most successful team in the old continent when they gradually found a way to subdue their opponents from Italy. Thanks to the quality of the stars, coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team completely dominated the representative of the land of spaghetti. At the end of the first half, Rodrygo almost scored for Los Blancos if his shot had not hit the crossbar.

After the break, the game was still dominated by the Spanish royal team and the opening goal finally came to them thanks to Federico Valverde after an easy tap-in. The goal was greatly contributed by Vinicius Junior when the 24-year-old player made a smart run and an accurate cross for his teammate.

Continuing their excitement, Los Blancos continuously bombarded the Serie A representative’s goal, and the second goal came to them as a matter of course. In the 68th minute, Jude Bellingham assisted Kylian Mbappe to unleash a powerful shot from about 10 meters away, the ball went straight into the Atalanta goal. This was also the French striker’s first goal for the reigning Champions League champions.

In the following minutes, with a safe distance, coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team deployed a slow but very solid style of play. On the opposite side, Atalanta could not create enough pressure on Courtois’ goal and had to accept defeat.

Real Madrid won the European Super Cup for the 6th time. Los Blancos officially surpassed Barca and AC Milan to become the team with the most wins in the history of the 2024 European Super Cup.
