Meghan Markle has tried to mend ties with the royal family by sending King Charles a sample box from her new brand. The lifestyle brand, As Ever, launched last month and has featured products such as a limited edition wildflower honey, priced at £22, which quickly sold out when it went on sale. Some PR boxes have also been sent to high-profile figures – including King Charles.
According to royal expert Neil Sean shared with Fox News, a source said Meghan attached a note in the gift box sent to Clarence House.
Expert Ian Pelham Turner added that the move reflects Meghan’s desire to “rebuild bridges” with the Royal Family, after she and Prince Harry stepped down as senior members in 2020. Mr. Turner commented: “I understand that she still feels disrespected, but small gestures like this are her way of showing compassion for what the King is going through, while also opening up opportunities for healing with Prince William, Prince Harry and King Charles.”
Meghan and King Charles have always had a good relationship. When Meghan married Prince Harry in 2018, she asked King Charles to walk her down the aisle after a rift with her father. The king also acted as an advisor, guiding Meghan through royal protocol and history. He also paid for the renovation of Frogmore Cottage, where Harry and Meghan lived while in England.
However, the relationship began to unravel after a controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, in which Meghan accused a member of the royal family of raising concerns about Prince Archie’s skin colour. Since then, Meghan has only returned to the UK once – to attend the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.
Meghan is now focusing on her lifestyle brand As Ever, and has launched her Netflix cooking show “With Love, Meghan.” The As Ever collection is inspired by Meghan’s love of cooking, entertainment, and everyday living. Featured products include honey, crepe batter, herbal tea, and raspberry jam.
“This collection brings Meghan’s warmth, beauty and personal intention to every day ritual,” said a statement from As Ever. The brand plans to continue updating the collection seasonally in the future.
In addition, Meghan also revealed her fruit jam project more than a year ago through the brand American Riviera Orchard. Her jam products were also featured in the Netflix documentary series “With Love, Meghan”, when she hosted small, cozy parties with friends and famous chefs.
Observers believe that the As Ever brand and these new activities will continue to be incorporated by Meghan in the podcast “Confessions of a Female Founder” that she just launched.
