Summoned to court as a witness in the legal battle between close friend Blake Lively and actor Justin Baldoni, the pop star angrily denied that she was involved.
According to TMZ , on May 9, Justin Baldoni’s attorney Bryan Freedman sent a notice to Taylor Swift, asking her to appear as a witness in the upcoming trial of Justin and Blake Lively – where the two co-stars are suing each other for incidents that occurred during the filming of the movie It Ends With Us .

Taylor’s rep immediately criticized the subpoena, claiming that the singer had no involvement in any aspect of the film. “Taylor Swift was never on set, had no involvement in casting or creative decisions, did not write the music for the film, did not see the edit or provide notes, and did not see the film until weeks after it premiered, as she is on a global tour in 2023 and 2024,” the rep told Page Six.
Taylor’s side claims her only involvement with the film is its use of one of her songs, My Tears Ricochet , from her 2020 album Folklore. Taylor’s representatives claim the subpoena is intended to draw attention to her by using her name rather than focusing on the facts of the case.
Previously, in the lawsuit, Justin Baldoni – the film’s director and star – wrote that Taylor Swift was involved in more than just licensing one of her songs for the film. Justin told how Blake Lively, while trying to change the script, dragged Taylor Swift into it to pressure him. According to Justin, during an important meeting between him and Blake at her New York penthouse to discuss a scene the actress rewrote, he felt pressured when her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, was there and Taylor Swift also appeared. After the meeting, Blake sent Justin a text message in which the actress described Taylor and Ryan as “dragons” protecting her.

The It Ends With Us stars’ bitter legal battle began when Blake Lively sued Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment on set and defamation in the film’s promotion as retaliation. However, Justin countersued Blake Lively, her husband, and publicist Leslie Sloane for $400 million in slander. Justin also accused Blake of using his power in the entertainment industry to oppress him during the filming of the film.
The lawsuit, which is scheduled to go to court in March 2026, has attracted public attention and divided public opinion with many opposing opinions. A source revealed to Page Six that the lawsuit has also caused tension in Blake Lively’s relationship with her close friend Taylor Swift. The 35-year-old singer is said to feel that her friend is taking advantage of her name and is upset that she was accidentally dragged into this bad story. The source said that Blake Lively has sent a sincere apology to Taylor and the singer has forgiven her.
