The funeral of Liverpool striker Diogo Jota and his younger brother Andre Silva has just taken place in a mournful atmosphere in Portugal. But the most painful image is the image of the mother – the woman who gave birth to the two boys, now having to say goodbye to both of them in just a moment.

The photo captured the moment when Mrs. Isabel Silva burst into tears beside the coffin, being helped by relatives in a state of near collapse, making everyone who saw it choke up. Her bewildered face, messy hair, lifeless eyes and broken sobs were all she had left when she witnessed her beloved, talented and promising son – Diogo Jota – passing away forever along with his younger brother in the same horrific car accident at dawn.

According to local police, the car veered off the road and hit a concrete barrier on the side of the road before flying dozens of meters away and bursting into flames, killing both of them on the spot.

The bodies were taken to the Zamora Forensic Hospital for identification. The bereaved families were immediately present to identify the victims, before the bodies of Diogo and his brother were flown back to Portugal for funerals.

Just 12 days ago, Jota had a happy wedding with his longtime girlfriend Rute Cardoso. Now, his young wife is a widow, and his parents have lost both their sons.
