Taylor Swift was summoned in Blake Lively’s lawsuit
According to
Variety
on May 9, director Justin Baldoni’s legal team asked singer Taylor Swift to appear in court as a witness in the lawsuit investigating the conflict between Blake Lively and Baldoni during the production of
It Ends With Us
. The trial is scheduled to take place in March 2026.
The summons relates to a lawsuit filed by Baldoni in January, in which he provided text messages with Blake Lively, who referred to Taylor Swift as her “superstar friend” and “one of her dragons” along with her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, in several exchanges to pressure Baldoni into changing the script to her liking.

In a statement to the news agency the same day, Taylor Swift’s spokesperson denied any involvement of the singer in the film, except that she allowed the crew to use the song
My Tears Ricochet
(2020)
in the trailer and a scene.
“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set, had no involvement in the casting process or creative decisions, did not write the soundtrack, never saw the edits or gave any notes to the film. She did not even see
It Ends With Us
until a few weeks after the project was released because she was busy traveling around the world for the biggest tour in history in 2023 and 2024,” the source said.
A representative for Taylor Swift also criticized the subpoena, saying it was a ploy to draw media attention to the case. “Given her involvement in this matter is licensing music, which 19 artists also do, the subpoena is designed to exploit Taylor Swift’s name to gain publicity by generating sensational headlines rather than focusing on the facts,” the spokesperson added.
Justin Baldoni’s representative has not yet responded to the above information.
