7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar
A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar at noon on March 28, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The German Geosciences Center GFZ said the quake had a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter about 50 km east of the city of Monywa. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties in Myanmar.

According to a video shared on social media, a bridge connecting the Ava and Sagaing regions of Myanmar has collapsed horribly.
The footage shows parts of the old Sagaing Bridge after it fell into the Irrawaddy River, which flows from north to south of the country.
Yangon residents also said they were unable to make phone calls for about 30 minutes after the earthquake struck at around 12:53 pm local time. The internet was still working normally.

“We felt the earthquake for about a minute and then ran out of the building,” a resident in Myanmar’s largest city Yangon, who did not want to be named, told CNN.
“We also saw other people running out of the buildings. It was very sudden and very strong,” another said.

Other countries in the region are also affected.
The earthquake affected many other neighboring areas such as Bangladesh, India, Laos, Thailand, China and Vietnam.
In Bangkok, Thailand, the tremors caused panicked people to rush out of apartment buildings and hotels. They gathered on the streets, seeking shade from the midday sun. Some buildings had to be evacuated due to the strong shaking. Water splashed out of lakes, many of which were high above ground.
