Earlier this week, Selena Gomez and her Emilia Pérez costar Edgar Ramírez were filmed dancing together at a concert.

The pair, who play Jessi Del Monte and Gustavo Brun in the upcoming Jacques Audiard film, attended Sabrina Carpenter’s show in New York on Sept. 29, along with a few of their friends.

However, Selena inadvertently found herself at the center of public attention after one of her friends, Connar Franklin, posted a now-deleted TikTok that showed her and Edgar dancing very closely.

In the clip, which also saw the group singing along to Sabrina’s hit “Espresso,” Edgar, 47, could be seen dancing directly behind Selena, 32, with his arms around her waist. The pair smiled as they looked into the camera and danced along to the music.

Though the original video has since been deleted, it wasn’t long before a clip of Selena and Edgar’s exchange went viral, with several internet users sparking speculation around the singer’s relationship with music producer Benny Blanco.

If you didn’t know, Selena and Benny went public with their relationship last December and have repeatedly gushed about each other over the months.
Selena has made it clear that she and Benny are super happy, telling Vanity Fair just last month: “I’ve never been loved this way. He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything.”
With this in mind, several internet users questioned the status of Selena and Benny’s relationship after seeing the video of her dancing closely with Edgar. Not only did some fans speculate that Selena had cheated on Benny, but others theorized that she and Edgar were actually dating.
The backlash even wound up sparking think-pieces; this article from Vulture defended Selena, arguing that she and Edgar are “clearly just girls having fun.”
Now, Selena has since hit back at fans’ speculation via TikTok, clarifying that she and Edgar are strictly just friends.
