The right-back suffered a hamstring injury in the last moments of Man United’s September 16 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, and has been restricted to the treatment room for the majority of the previous six weeks.

Despite being substituted for Argentine center-back Lisandro Martinez in the 85th minute of the Old Trafford loss, he was unable to finish the match due to a hamstring issue.

The former Crystal Palace defender has returned to team training with Erik ten Hag’s squad after missing a sizable amount of action, and he is almost ready to be selected.

Man United hopes the defender can complete the remaining portions of his recovery within the next ten days, but they also expect him to miss Sunday’s thrilling Manchester derby.

The Red Devils’ two biggest games of the weekend are at home against Manchester City at Old Trafford and at Carabao Cup round four on Wednesday night at Newcastle United.

Even though the Manchester derby may come too soon for the right-back, Ten Hag’s club gains a great deal from his injury return.

Since the beginning of the season, the Red Devils have struggled with injuries, particularly in the defensive positions, which has led to their subpar start.

Raphael Varane, Sergio Reguilon, Jonny Evans, Tyrell Malacia, and Wan-Bissaka have all missed time due to injury this season; Luke Shaw and Martinez have been out for an extended period of time.

Wan-Bissaka made five Premier League appearances and contributed one assist prior to becoming hurt.

Man United welcomes Man City to the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday, but they are aware that even though they have won their past three games, they still have a difficult task ahead of them.
