JUST IN 🚨 Joaquin Phoenix and Ilana Glazer join hundreds of Jews in signing a New York Times ad declaring “No to ethnic cleansing

Actor Joaquin Phoenix, comedian Ilana Glazer, and more than 350 rabbis joined dozens of Jewish celebrities in signing a full-page New York Times advertisement opposing what they described as ethnic cleansing in Gaza.

The ad, which appeared Thursday on page A7, carried the headline: “Trump has called for the removal of all Palestinians from Gaza. Jewish people say no to ethnic cleansing.”

Notable signatories include Phoenix and his siblings Summer and Rain, comedian Eric Andre, playwright Tony Kushner, director Jonathan Glazer, writer Larry Charles, author Naomi Klein, journalist Peter Beinart, and actor Wallace Shawn.

The campaign, called In Our Name, was organized in response to President Trump’s proposal to relocate Gaza’s 2 million residents permanently outside the territory. Trump announced the plan in February during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, later adding that Palestinians would not have the right to return after reconstruction.

Rabbinical signatories include progressive activists and leading liberal rabbis such as Sharon Brous, Amichai Lau-Lavie, Amy Eilberg, Sally Priesand, Dan Wolpe, Jill Jacobs, Brant Rosen, Lizzi Heydemann, and Sharon Kleinbaum.

The In Our Name campaign says donations will support Palestinian-led efforts for dignity and safety in Palestine, as well as pro-Palestinian organizing in the U.S.

Since Trump unveiled his Gaza relocation plan, opposition has grown among Jewish groups, international leaders, and even some Republicans, who view the proposal as both impractical and morally unacceptable.
