Neymar Jr: From Soccer Star to Kim Kardashian’s Skims Model

GQ interviews two icons from different worlds, football and fashion, who join forces for an upcoming campaign set to take the internet by storm in 2023.


Kim Kardashian, the founder of Skims, a popular underwear brand, met Neymar Jr through her son’s love for soccer. She takes each of her children on solo trips related to their interests, and her son Saint wanted to watch Neymar play in Japan. They had previously seen him play in France and briefly met him. Neymar’s success as a football player made him the perfect choice to front the first-ever Skims menswear campaign, which was launched this week. Kardashian knew that there was a demand for Skims for men and did not want to release it without an impactful campaign. She believes that Neymar’s influence in sports and culture, coupled with Skims’ empowering message for women, will make Skims men’s a powerful brand.


Kardashian is an avid soccer fan and used to play the sport herself when she was younger. She enjoys playing with her son in hotel corridors and has even posted pictures of herself in her uniform. Neymar, a well-known football player, was eager to join Skims’ new men’s line alongside other athletes. The Skims men’s line was created due to the huge demand from their male customer base, with sizes ranging from XS to 5XL. Neymar has always been interested in fashion and likes to dress well, but growing up in a working-class family made it difficult to afford nice clothes. His move to Europe as a centre for Paris Saint Germain allowed him to attend fashion weeks and express himself through his clothing. Beckham is a style icon in the football world, and Neymar looks up to him both on and off the pitch.
