On April 18, Megyn Kelly attracted attention when she commented on Barack and Michelle Obama’s marriage on The Megyn Kelly Show.

The 55-year-old journalist assessed that the former President and First Lady of the United States were not a happy couple.

“Everything she (referring to Michelle Obama) says about Barack Obama is negative. Every time she has an opinion, it reflects poorly on him,” Kelly explained.

Kelly seemed to be referring to Michelle’s comments about her husband on IMO – the former First Lady’s joint podcast with her brother, basketball coach Craig Robinson.

In the first podcast episode aired in mid-March, Michelle said she couldn’t agree on a bedtime with her husband and criticized him for not being punctual.

Kelly then continued to criticize the statement that Mrs. Michelle made a few years ago. Specifically, in an interview on Revolt TV in 2022, the female lawyer born in 1964 revealed that she could not stand her husband for 10 years.

Michelle said she shouldered most of the responsibility for taking care of the family and raising two young children, while Mr. Obama was often absent. She felt angry when her husband spent time playing golf or traveling for work, while she tried to balance being a mother and a lawyer.

“I have been married for 17 and a half years and none of my marriages have been bad. I think they married the wrong person,” the female MC concluded.

Before marrying her current husband, Douglas Brunt, in 2008, Kelly spent five years together with her ex-husband, Dr. Daniel Kendall.

Megyn Kelly’s public discussion of the Obamas’ relationship has caused controversy online. Many people have criticized the MC for prying into other people’s family matters when it has nothing to do with her. They believe Kelly is making a scene to attract public attention.

Another audience expressed sympathy for Mrs. Michelle. They pointed out that the problems the former First Lady of the United States encountered are not uncommon in married life, especially in traditional families where men always give top priority to their careers and their wives have to accept being in the background.

“I’m not an Obama fan but I can see that marriage hasn’t been a priority for him for over a decade. He was President of the United States for eight years, and he was in politics before that. She put her own wants and dreams on hold to support her husband. That’s what many women do when they get married. That doesn’t mean she enjoyed it or that it didn’t put a strain on their relationship. I’m sure it was a difficult marriage, especially when they had young children. I can understand if she had resentment even when she supported her husband,” one comment received a lot of sympathy.

Since the beginning of the year, the Obamas have been constantly rumored to be divorcing. The reason stems from the fact that the two have not appeared in public together and Mrs. Michelle has been absent from important events such as the inauguration of President Donald Trump…

However, on Sophia Bush’s Work in Progress podcast on April 9, the author of Becoming affirmed that her decisions had nothing to do with her husband, she simply wanted to do what she liked and make her own choices without having to look at anyone’s face or opinion.

A day before Kelly made her statement that was considered “tactless”, Michelle was seen on the streets of Los Angeles, with a wedding ring on her hand.
