Actress Christina Fulton is suing actor Nicolas Cage and their son, Weston Cage, over an incident in 2024 in which she was assaulted and left bruised.

According to a lawsuit filed in court on February 19, Christina Fulton accused Nicolas Cage of ignoring his son’s mental health issues and even facilitating his violent behavior before the incident occurred, People reported.

The 57-year-old actress criticized the Speed ​​​​Ma actor for not intervening to help their son. “Weston has a long history of mental illness and has a history of assaulting and causing injury to multiple people,” the lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County said. “Nicolas knew of Weston’s history but did not take any action to prevent Weston from committing acts of violence and causing harm to others.”

Christina Fulton claims Cage bailed Weston out of jail on multiple occasions, drank with him “despite knowing of his history of substance abuse” and paid for Weston’s apartment in downtown Los Angeles, right next door to the actor’s own. She also accuses Cage of failing to ensure Weston received “necessary mental health help”, of supporting his “unhinged” lifestyle and of failing to set rules or guidelines to help prevent Weston’s bad behavior.

“Nicolas knew or should have known that Weston posed a serious and imminent danger to others, including Plaintiff, based on his history of violent assault, substance abuse, and mental instability,” the lawsuit states.

The incident comes nearly a year after Nicolas Cage, 34, was accused of attacking his mother in the elevator, lobby and parking lot of his apartment building in April 2024. Weston Cage was arrested in July of that year for assaulting his mother. Nicolas Cage bailed his son out on $150,000.

The assault “caused severe and life-threatening injuries,” according to the lawsuit, including a concussion, multiple bruises, a disfigured eye, a broken tooth, post-traumatic stress disorder, and psychological trauma. The actress said the injuries affected her modeling and acting work. She was filming a Netflix series at the time and was forced to stop. She was also unable to appear at promotional events for the brand, and her reputation suffered.

Christina Fulton is suing Nicolas Cage for negligent supervision, assault, and emotional distress. The amount of damages Fulton is seeking is unknown, but she is asking Nicolas and his father to pay the costs of the lawsuit.

Responding to the lawsuit, Nicolas Cage’s lawyer said: “Christina Fulton’s allegations against Nicolas Cage are absurd and frivolous. Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old man. Mr. Cage did not control Weston’s behavior in any way and is not responsible for the assault on Weston’s mother.”

Weston Cage, born in 1990, is an American actor and singer, the son of actor Nicolas Cage and actress Christina Fulton. Weston was hospitalized for mental illness in 2011 after a fight in Los Angeles. Weston has two children with his ex-wife.
