Portugal Team head coach Roberto Martinez happily welcomed Cristiano Ronaldo when the 39-year-old striker attended his first training session before EURO 2024.
Cristiano Ronaldo was given special permission by coach Roberto Martinez to take a short summer break after the 2023/24 season. Therefore, the Al-Nassr striker is the latest player to join the Portuguese team.
Yesterday, Cristiano Ronaldo flew back to Lisbon to gather at the Cidade do Futebol training center. In the Portuguese capital, CR7 immediately joined the training session with the whole team. This is Ronaldo’s first training session preparing for EURO 2024.
On the team reunion day, Ronaldo was warmly welcomed by his teammates and coach Roberto Martinez. Like previous gatherings, the Spanish military leader happily shook hands when meeting Ronaldo.
During the training session with Seleccao yesterday, CR7 mainly practiced light and relaxed. This is the last training session of the Portuguese national team before the friendly match with Croatia at 11:45 p.m. tonight (June 8).

Because he has just joined forces, Ronaldo’s ability to play against Croatia is still open. The Al-Nassr striker can attend Portugal’s final friendly match before EURO 2024, against the Republic of Ireland on June 12.
At EURO 2024, Portugal is in Group F with the Czech Republic, Hungary and Georgia. Seleccao is considered the number 1 candidate for the top spot in Group F. In addition, coach Roberto Martinez’s team is also considered one of the top candidates for the championship.
Former MU defender Rio Ferdinand commented that one of the three teams that will win EURO 2024 is England, France or Portugal. According to Opta’s supercomputer, Seleccao has the 5th highest chance of winning the championship after England, France, Germany and Spain.
